Justice Shalinder Kaur heard the matter and also issued notice to YouTube. Notice will have to be served through email and WhatsApp, the Court said.

It then listed the case for further hearing tomorrow (Saturday).

Ram Rahim has sued Shyam Meera Singh for a video he uploaded on YouTube on December 17, 2023. The video was titled “How Gurmeet Ram Rahim fooled his bhakts?” The video’s thumbnail read, “Ram Rahim ka asli sach (Ram Rahim’s real truth)”.

Advocate Rajat Aneja appeared for Ram Rahim and argued that Shyam Meera Singh is a habitual offender and though a legal notice was served to him, he refused to delete the video.

Aneja referred to a tweet by Shyam Meera Singh on X (Twitter) on December 24 where he acknowledged that a notice was served to him but said he will not delete the video and fight the case in court.

The video is disparaging and defamatory, Aneja contended.

“He (Shyam Meera Singh) used to be a journalist with Aaj Tak but he was fired for insulting the Prime Minister… An FIR has also been filed against him in Uttar Pradesh for insulting the state’s Chief minister,” Aneja submitted.

The Court considered the case and said it will issue notice and hear the matter tomorrow.

Shyam Meera Singh was not represented before the Court today.

According to news reports, Gurmeet Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20-year jail term in 2017 for raping two disciples. He is also serving life-sentence for his involvement in murders of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati and Dera Manager Ranjit Singh in 2002.

The suit has been filed through Advocate Shriya Chanda. Advocate Rajat Aneja argued the case.
